“I Used To Come Home And Cry,” Aamir Khan Speaks Of His Days Of Struggle In Bollywood

Aamir Khan, who is often called Bollywood’s “Mr. Perfectionist”, has delivered many blockbuster films like ‘Lagaan’, ‘Dil Chahta’, ‘Sarfarosh’, and several others, over the years. However, while Aamir is a successful star now, not many know about his years of struggle in the industry. In fact, the actor was even called a ‘one-film wonder’ after his successful debut.

Revealing his personal struggles during the initial days of his career back in the 1980s, the actor confessed his movies failed after his blockbuster launch with ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, reports HT.  While addressing a group of university students, the actor disclosed that after the hit romantic drama his career had taken a turn for the worse.

He was quoted saying,

“After Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, I signed about eight or nine films on the basis of stories as the directors were all new and unknown at that time. These films started bombing and I was called ‘one film wonder’ by the media. My career was sinking. It felt like I was in quicksand. I was very unhappy. I used to come home and cry.”

He even mentioned how he wanted to work with certain people but they were not interested in working with him, reports Republic World. Eventually, the ‘Dhoom 3’ actor realized that his films were no good. He said,

“Within the first two years of QSQT, I experienced the weakest stage of my life. The films I had signed started releasing and flopping one after the other. So, I was like, ‘I am finished. There’s no way I can survive this onslaught’ since I knew how bad my other unreleased films were.”

At one point, Aamir was even prepared to end his career but he decided he wouldn’t sign on the dotted line till he got a “great director, great script, and a great producer”. Eventually, the actor went on to work in some really successful films.

Aamir’s journey only goes on to show how we should never give up on our dreams. If we believe in ourselves and work hard enough, nothing is impossible.
