Currently, there’s this trend of remixing and remaking every popular song that we grew up listening to. Starting from ‘Chura Ke Dil Mera’ to ‘Maine Payal Hai Chhankai’, the list is endless.
Earlier, T-Series dropped a remake of the song ‘Masakali’ featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria and sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon. They named it ‘Masakali 2.0’. A.R. Rahman, who was the original composer of ‘Masakali’ and the entire ‘Delhi 6’ album wasn’t happy with it.

And now, amidst the Falguni Pathak and Neha Kakkar debacle, A.R. Rahman has given his two cents on this entire culture of remakes.

Hindustan Times quoted him saying, “The more I see, the more it is distorted. The intention of the composer gets distorted. People say, ‘I am reimagining.’ Who are you to re-imagine? I am also very careful of taking someone else’s work. You have to be respectful and I think it is a grey area, we need to sort it out.”
