959 Gujarat Students Writing Exact Same Answers In Board Exams Is Cheating On Another Level!

We have had quite a few mass cheating incidences in India in the past which is so hilarious that it’s funny! We all remember parents climbing up a school wall to pass chits to the students during Class 10 board exams in Bihar, right? But if you thought that it couldn’t get any worse than that, boy are you in for a ride!

A massive mass-copying incident was reported from Gujarat recently in which copies of as many as 959 students had the exact same answers to the same questions, written in the same sequence, and making the exact same mistakes. The copies were submitted by Class 12 General Stream students appearing for board exams.

According to TOI, this is by far the single largest mass-copying incident in the history of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board. What’s even more shocking is that cheating took place despite strict invigilation by the school authorities. The exam centres in which this happened are mainly from Junagadh and Gir-Somnath districts.

In one of the centres, nearly 200 students wrote the exact same essay, ‘Dikri Ghar Ni Divdi’ (Daughter is the earthen lamp of the family), from beginning to the end.

In order to rectify the situation, the board decided to withhold results until 2020 and fail those students who have allegedly cheated. They also decided on cancelling exam centres in the mass-copying prone areas.

Students told the GSHSEB committee that many teachers dictated answers to the students at some of these centres.

Why do people have to climb walls, beat up invigilators, nano-xerox books, and do all kinds of bizarre things to cheat when you can just study? It isn’t even that hard!
