Just 8 Years Old, This Chess Prodigy Is Making India Proud At The International Level

Not Viswanathan Anand, this 8-year-old chess prodigy can be the next Magnus Carlsen.

Dev Shah is a class 3 student at Dhirubhai Ambani International. But he is different from the rest.

Last week, the youngest Indian to become a rated chess player won a silver medal after finishing as the runner-up at the FIDE World Youth & Cadets Chess Championship in Greece.

Disappointed after losing to Bharath Subramaniyam, the ardent Viswanathan Anand fan said this to TOI:

‘My goal was to try and finish in the top three. I had won six out six when I played him in round seven and he was half a point behind. But I blundered.’

 

As an eight-year-old kid, when children of his age are playing with dolls and cars, Dev is an exception and dreaming big.
