Photos Of Elderly Couple’s 72nd Wedding Anniversary Remind Us Of ‘The Notebook’

People organize photoshoots with friends and family so that they can capture fun memories and preserve them for the future. But some of them are so special and inspiring that they serve as important lessons for others too. For instance, breast cancer survivor Vashnavi Poovanedran’s bridal shoot and Sameera Reddy’s underwater maternity shoot smash conventional stereotypes about female beauty. Now, another special one is melting hearts online for all the right reasons.

Leonard and Shirley Matties are a 91-year-old couple living at Grace Manor Care Center, Colorado, US. And to mark their 72nd wedding anniversary, a staff member named Ardis Behrendsen decided to gift them an adorable photoshoot.

According to The Indian Express, the staff organized a small celebration and also got Shirley a pink silk gown. CBS News reports that the elderly couple has seven children and one of them, Carolyn Martell, revealed that her mother has dementia which has been difficult to cope with for her father.

“When I put that dress on her, and her makeup, and put the jewellery on her, her mind just came back. It was incredible,” recalls Ardis Behrendsen. Here are the pictures she shared from the photoshoot.
