We come across news of humans getting arrested for various big or small reasons every day. But for the first time ever, news of animals getting arrested has caught our attention!

In a bizarre incident, to say the least, two goats were arrested in Telangana for eating saplings. The saplings weren’t just ordinary saplings. In fact, they were planted by the government under the ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ initiative.

According to sources, the NGO, Save the Trees, which took responsibility for planting these saplings, had planted more than 900 saplings across public offices and hospitals. The goats allegedly ate nearly 250 of them which “repeat offenders”.

The NGO had complained several times to the police but they weren’t taken seriously. However, they recently caught the two goats “red-handed” and handed them over to the police.

Reports revealed that the two goats were released after their owner, a resident of Kummariwada, paid a fine of Rs. 1,000.

“We had planted around 980 wild almond trees at school, hospital and police station premises using our own money. We had worked hard to acquire these plants, and then these goats started to come in and eat our plants,” Kyasa Vikranth, a member of Save the Trees told The New Indian Express.
