117 Brave Fishermen Who Saved Lives During Kerala Floods Get Inducted Into Police

The Kerala flood in 2018 was by far the most dangerous the country had witnessed. Over 483 people had died and many went missing, and the government was forced to declare it a “level 3 calamity” or a calamity of severe nature. While many came forward in support of the victims, a praise-worthy job was done by the fishermen of Kerala who took part in various rescue operations. And their efforts didn’t go unrecognised.

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said:

“Fish workers’ role in the rescue operations during the last floods was commendable. Those who earn their livelihood by fighting the deep sea showed their real mettle during that crisis. The selection of 200 coastal wardens, by giving special consideration for the fish workers, was in honour for their service.”

The safety of the state is in good hands!
