As a comedian, we have a very different perspective of the world. While it is common for us to seek humour in all things, there are times when our perspective lends us some interesting philosophical insights. We’ve seen some of these insights from the mind of Biswa Kalyan Rath in the past.
Most recently, Zakir Khan, in a Facebook post, made an interesting insight. Why is it only after the demise of an individual that we honour their achievements and struggles? It seems like a monumental waste of time to wait for a person to die before appreciating their efforts, right?
Here’s his complete Facebook post:
Baki meri samjh kam hai, bahut kuch hai jo mai bas abhi seekh hi raha hoon.
It’s true that at times we appreciate an individual’s efforts to a much greater extent after their demise. We sing songs, write poems and make posts. I agree with Zakir that with such praise, we miss out on the opportunity to laud the individual’s contribution in person.
So I’m going to make myself a promise. If I do find the effort, struggle or work of a friend, family member, colleague, classmate or acquaintance truly inspirational, I will shake their hand and appreciate them in person rather than writing a heartfelt speech for them at their funeral.
