14 Things That Happen When Your Workplace Has More Females Than Males

You just joined a new company and you are excited on your first day at the office. You walk in – and – you cannot see one guy. Not one male colleague. You almost panic, but then you see one guy in the corner, looking as docile as a cow. You feel relieved and go, sit at your desk.

And then you pray that you get through the day.

1. You feel out-numbered

You walk into the office and a lot of female eyes look at you and you feel like the 300 Spartans in the movie 300, surrounded by the Persians in the last scene.

 

2. The other males sighed with relief when you joined

“Thank God there’s another guy here. We really had too much estrogen in this office.”

You can literally see the relief on their faces.

 

3. They greet people differently

Usually, the workplace should have formal greetings, you learn that they don’t care for that rule. They usually go with,

“Hi!”, with a flourish of a hand.

“Come here baby! Show me your pretty face!” – This one to another girl. Obviously.

 

4. Random squealing

And it is all so random and sudden, I literally jump in my seat.

 

5. Random giggling

Probably because of an inside joke.

Probably because of someone in the office.

Probably, just because…

 

6. You do feel a bit left out sometimes

But if your colleagues are cool, they will include you in.

 

7. Sympathetic nodding from other males

“I get it, bro. Listen to songs, your taste in music will improve.”

8. Killer comebacks

God forbid you give them judgmental looks even if you do not intend to.

“Who is he to judge us, he wears the same shirt every day! LOL.”

*Everyone is laughing*

9. Some of them are dudes

Not literally.

They talk like them, they laugh like them, and even have the same sense of humor.

 

10. You think twice before making a joke

You proofread it for sexist undertones. Because, they will rip your bones if it turns out to be sexist.

 

11. Unofficial random fashion shows

Someone gets a necklace, an earring or a top, and everyone gathers for a crit session.

“Twirl around!”

“They look so pretty!”

“This is so bad, I am going to return it! Should I keep it? No?”

 

12. You learn about their struggles

And it’s varied and some of them are very same as yours. And these are relevant struggles of life, the ones you don’t really get to listen every day.

 

13. You bust a lot of myths

Like women gossip, are ultra-competitive, play games, and are shrewish.

All this, you think should have happened, actually does not.

 

14. The workplace is a better place

Because it is bubbly.

Because it is cheerful, and because it’s chirpy AF.
