Woman Buried Alive Tried To Fight Her Way Out Of Coffin For 11 Days

Medical negligence has, unfortunately, become really common. With doctors sacrificing the care of their patients to commercialism, it is the families of the patients who are left to deal with the wrong diagnosis and as a result, suffer the repercussions.

Something similar happened when a woman from Brazil after she was rushed to the hospital for severe fatigue. After a week of staying at the hospital, doctors declared that she was dead and handed over the body to her family.

37-year-old Rosangela Almeida dos Santos’ death certificate said that she went into cardiac arrest before dying from ‘septic shock’ on January 28 and was buried the next day.

Imagine the shock of the people living near the cemetery when they heard muffled screams coming from the burial spot 11 days later on February 9, 2018. They immediately alerted her family who smashed the stone tomb which had been nailed shut. Unfortunately, it was too late. By the time the family prised open the coffin, she was already dead.

As reported by Metro, the nails around the sides of the coffin lid had been pushed upwards, and there were scratches and blood on the inside. She had suffered injuries on her hands and forehead and it appeared as though, she had tried to claw her way out.

In a video that has surfaced of the incident, people can be seen clamouring and screaming for an ambulance. They also expressed shock over the body being warm in the coffin.

You can watch the video of people prying open the coffin here:

A close resident of the area, Natalina Silva said that many people heard muffled screams coming from the grave. She added,

“When I got there right in front of the tomb, I heard banging from inside it. I thought the kids who play around the cemetery were playing a joke on me. Then I heard her groan twice, and after those two groans, she stopped.”

However, despite the incident being so severe the family of the woman has refused to accuse any doctor and said that they do not want to cause any problems. They believe that she was declared dead in error.

The police have started taking statements from family members and neighbours. They are also considering exhuming Ms Santos’ body to get to the bottom of the tragedy. The hospital that declared her dead is also cooperating with the police and will provide all necessary information requested from them to the family and authorities.
