UP Woman Pretends To Be A Man For Five Years And Marries Two Women For Dowry

There is no dearth of people using social media as a tool to con unsuspecting victims. Mostly, the motivation for these conmen is to extract money from the victims and beat a hasty retreat. But criminals seem to be getting bolder as they have now started hatching an elaborate plan to extract as much as they can from a target.

Remember the real-life Dolly Ki Doli looteri dulhan? Turns out, we have had a similar instance of a person pretending to be someone they are not. However, this story just goes on to show everything that is wrong with the society.

Sweety Sen from Dhampur in Bijnore, UP pretended to be a man and married two women. She then allegedly tortured one of them for dowry. Sweety created an account under an alias Krishna Sen in 2013 where she would chat with women and entice them. She also posted pictures posing as a man.

She would tell them that she was the “son” of a CFL bulb businessman and trapped her first ‘wife’. They got married in 2014.

However, things soon took an ugly turn after she started beating the wife, who holds a double Masters degree demanding dowry from her family. She also took ₹8.5 lakh to set up a factory, as reported by Hindustan Times.

A few years later, she enticed another woman and got married to her in 2016. The second wife was a guest at the girl’s first marriage. However, the girl found out that Sweety alias Krishna was not a man. But she forced her to keep quiet by offering her money.

Sen also rented a room in Tikoniya area of Haldwani and kept both of her “wives” there.The first wife lodged a report with the Haldwani Police alleging dowry demands and threats after which the police arrested her on February 14, Wednesday.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that she has been a tomboy since childhood and pretended to be a boy. She said she had cut her hair to look like a man and used to drive a motorcycle and smoke cigarettes. Police also said that after marriage, she did not let her “wives” look at her body or touch her and established a “fake” physical relationship using sex toys.

The police also got a medical test of the accused which proved that she was indeed a woman and are currently on the lookout for the “family” which visited the brides’ homes for the engagement and marriage.

Dowry is a social evil and the perpetrators of this have to be brought to justice. It is rather disturbing to think that the families of the women who were lured into this trap, did not think to do a background check on the person she was getting married to. At a time, when such twisted people roam the country, the least we can do is be on our guard.
