The Infamous Vyapam Scam: Here’s All You Need To Know About The Case

The mysterious Vyapam scam is turning out to be the next biggest scam in India with every passing day. While many think that 2G scam is one of the biggest scams the country has ever seen, but with the Vyapam scam claiming 40 lives, it’s turning out to be the biggest scam in India.

Most people aren’t aware of Vyapam scam.

So here’s exactly what you need to know about the scam:

Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), popularly known as “Vyapam,” is a government body responsible for conducting several entrance tests to recruit officials like police constables, teachers, banking officials and also for admissions in educational institutes.

The scam involved undeserving candidates bribing politicians through middlemen, to get high ranks in these entrance tests. Somewhat similar to what Sanjay Dutt did in Munnabhai MBBS.

A person was strategically seated between two persons so that people can copy and at other times, OMR sheets were randomly marked, and later on the correct answers were filled in by the state board officials.

Even though the first FIR was filed in 2000, the state government established a committee to investigate the matter in 2009.

The Madhya Pradesh government established a Special Task Force in 2012 after a PIL was filed by Indore-based Anand Rai, and after 2013, Madhya Pradesh police have managed to arrest more than 2000 people and major politicians including former education minister, Laxmikant Sharma, are also in the list.

The graveness of the Vyapam scam can be determined by the fact that more than 45 people have died under mysterious circumstances. This includes witnesses, persons accused in the case, and recently an Aaj Tak journalist, Akshay Singh, who was investigating the case.

Dean of the medical college in Jabalpur, Arun Sharma was found dead in a Delhi hotel. MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav’s son Shailesh Yadav, an accused in the Vyapam scam also died at his Lucknow residence under mysterious circumstances.

If we look closely at the deaths in the past few days and the large number of people associated with the scam, the chances of foul play are indeed extremely high.
