Is India safe for women? The Chandigarh stalking case poses a BIG question mark on how our country is still not a safe place to be.
A 29-year-old woman was stalked and harassed for 7 km for 30 minutes around midnight on August 4. The perpetrator was Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala’s son, Vikas Barala and his friend, Ashish Kumar.

In the light of the same incident, BJP Haryana’s Vice-President, Ramveer Bhatti, took the time to point out his view on everything “wrong” with a woman staying out late at night. Blaming everything on women, he said,
“Parents must take care of their children… they shouldn’t allow them to roam at night. Children should come home on time, why stay out at night?”
In India, the blame game of ministers is pretty strong. I mean, a day doesn’t go by when a minister doesn’t give us a piece of their mind.. from wearing short attires to staying out late. Seems the list of “rules for women” is never ending!
While women all over the world are struggling for their right to equality, there are few who are supportive enough to voice their opinion on how WRONG the above statement is. One of them, is the singer, music-director, Vishal Dadlani.
He took to Twitter and completely lost his cool on the minister’s senseless statement. Here is what Vishal said,
1. Not ready to take it!
Our leaders must work towards a country where women don't need to be protected at all! Drop the "rishton ke bandhan" stuff & DO something!

2. So he decided to give it back.
All morning, I’ve been seeing news reports discrediting a woman who had the courage to stand up to a politically-connected harasser.

3. Didn’t you?
Some moron even asked “why was she out that late?”. Because YOU assured her that she’d be safe. “Bahut hua naari pe vaar”. Remember?
— VISHAL DADLANI (@VishalDadlani) August 7, 2017
4. Get the point?
Also, naari/purush is beside the point. BOTH should be safe and secure. One gets killed for eating meat. The other gets treated like meat.

5. Just what we needed to hear!
So stop with the platitudes on Raksha Bandhan. Neither are you doing any “raksha”, nor do you seem to have any “bandhan” with the people.
— VISHAL DADLANI (@VishalDadlani) August 7, 2017
Condemning everything wrong with the incident in a Twitter thread, Vishal hits the nail right on its head.
We hope his words can help get some sense into such insensible leaders in power and we can all live in a civilised better world!
