Ever since he took office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid special attention to make the lives of disabled people better in India. In one of his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programmes, the PM urged Indians to use the word ‘divyang’ instead of ‘viklang’ to address disabled people and make public spaces and buildings friendlier for them.
However, it seems like PM Modi’s own party members are not keen on following his orders. In a shocking video that has recently surfaced, Uttar Pradesh Textile Minister, Satyadev Pachauri can be seen disrespecting a disabled cleaner. The minister was inspecting the ‘Khadi Gramodyog Board’s Office’ in the state capital, Lucknow and was annoyed with the unsanitary conditions at the office. Check out the video uploaded by UttarPradesh.
However, the minister denied making any such comment when asked later.
