When you sit in a cab, no matter the time of day, you trust the driver of the vehicle to take you to your destination safe and sound. You trust the cab driver with your life. However, what happens when this trust is broken?
Late at night, four friends in Noida were travelling back in an Uber together when their driver rammed the vehicle into a stationary truck. All four friends were injured, while one of them, Kaayum Pegu, succumbed to her injuries.
“Pegu faced multiple fractures in the ribs and a serious head injury.”
Pegu was on ventilator support, however, 5 days after fighting for her life, she died.
After the accident, the Uber driver only suffered minor injuries and immediately fled the scene. The driver was drunk and did not slow down even after repeated requests from the passengers.
“The cab driver was smoking inside the car… He rammed a stationary vehicle at 3 am.”
An FIR was registered against him, however, he was soon released on bail.
Speeding is never a good option when driving, irrespective of the time of day. Moreover, speeding late at night, when four other passengers have trusted you with their lives is just unacceptable!
