15 Epic TV Shows All The 90s Kid Will Remember From Their Teenage Years!

While I take pride in being a 90s kid and deem it as the golden period, my teenage years were awesome, too. ? Growing up with the tag of the millennial kid wasn’t easy; but then there was so much innovation happening all around us and so many cool things we saw on-screen, that made them the amazing years.

Transitioning from cassettes to CDs and DVDs gen, we had such a massive 90s show hangover. But, we found solace in religiously tuning into Disney, Pogo, Star One, Hungama and a bit of Animax.

Here are 15 shows we grew up watching during our teenage years!

1. Hannah Montana

We got the best of both worlds, indeed. Watching Miley Stewart’s double life was too cool and we were treated with the musical extravaganza. Friendship like Miley, Lilly and Oliver was ❤.

2. Lizzy McGuire

The best part of the show was the animated Lizzy’s soliloquy. Duh! But we kinda like how the teen comedy was in a different setting but still relatable.

3. The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody

The double-trouble boys and their hotel-ventures kept us glued to the channel and I remember watching the re-runs of the re-runs.

4. Remix

Though it was the remake of popular Argentine soap Rebelde Way, the Indianised setting with Yuvi, Ashi, Ranveer and Tia gave us talking material. From ‘Hey Bhaggu’ to aping Tia and girls’ signature goodbye style, we have done it all. Remix hain apna, jahan!

5. Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin

Ugly Betty‘s desi avatar Jassi was so fun, smart and transformed into a diva. Though it wasn’t rightly a teen drama, we still watched it because our parents watched it. It made us go, “Kyunki Jassi jaissi, koi nahiinn”. And, for Mr Armaan, we could crush while sighing, “Tu mera Armaan hain!”

6. That’s So Raven

Raven Baxter’s life was pretty darn interesting and I envied her psychic abilities. She was goofy, sassy and her disguises were so hilarious. #DealWithIt

7. Drake & Josh

Two teens – Josh Nichols and Drake Parker, two extremely different personalities but when together, were fun. They were step brothers but the best ones! Megan was my favourite. *winks*

8. Dhoom Machao Dhoom

This was a rage and keeping up with the twist and turns and zig-zag storylines was an art. Oh, and the title track was so popular, Dhoom Machao Dhoom!

9. Left Right Left

The craze of Rajeev Khandelwal, Arjun Bijlani, Harshad Chopra and Vikas Manaktala was at prime and everyone wanted to be determined like Cadet Naina. ‘Poochoon na humse hain kya zindagi, humse humari hain yeh zindagi…..left, right, left!

10. Vikraal Aur Gabraal

This was the ultimate guilty pleasure. We watched it but never admitted to watching it. It was kinda cool, though. Desi ghostbusters sorts!

11. Kya Mast Hai Life

Another teen drama discussed widely in school. We could gossip about it. It was so cool. And, mahn, Shweta Tripathi just doesn’t age. Ragini, Zeeshan (‘Zee’), Zenia, Ritu and Vir’s life made our lives fun. It was the highest rated comedy mini-series.

12. Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai

I can’t in words express how this satirical comedy made our lives better. Haichi! Whenever I use this term, I hear Maya Sarabhai in my head go, “Rachna bete, yeh haila tak toh theek tha but this haichi is categorically middle-class”.

13. Khichdi

‘Bade log, bade log!‘ This series was just such a delight and our desi humour radar increased with this lovely series. We have a bit of Hansa, Praful, Babuji, Jayshree and of course, Chakki and Jackky in us and totally lurrvee it.

14. Sanjivani

Though we were not the target audience for this show, we still loved watching it. The doctors in making and their love lives piqued our interests.

15. Wizards of Waverly Place

The Russo family were our favourite wizarding family after the Weasleys. Alex, Max and Justin Russo were so relatable teens with a touch of magic.

In addition to all this, how can we forget ‘Happy Go Lucky’, ‘Shaka Laka Boom Boom’, ‘Phil of the Future’ and of course the cartoon-marathons!

Those were the best days of my life. ?
