“Trump Is Incapable Of Being A President,” Psychiatrists Write To An American Daily

Donald Trump, the 45th President of U.S.A. is an (in)famous new President. Since the day he decided that he wanted to run for the presidential elections people all over the world were anxious and worried. Well, they were anxious and worried before too, but his announcement escalated it!

And Trump winning the elections made the anxiety levels reach the sky and it is continuing that way. People don’t know what he may do next after the immigration ban, after he decided not to give shelter to the refugees and after his continued lack of empathy towards common people is scary!

Recently, a group of Psychiatrists wrote a letter to the editor of New York Times mentioning how Trump is the wrong person to be in power. They say, “his words and behavior suggest a profound inability to empathize.”

“We believe that the grave emotional instability indicated by Mr. Trump’s speech and actions makes him incapable of serving safely as president.”

Allen Frances, professor at Duke University Medical College does not agree with the psychiatrists and neither does he support Trump and calls him out “for his ignorance, incompetence, impulsivity and pursuit of dictatorial powers.”

“It is a stigmatizing insult to the mentally ill (who are mostly well behaved and well meaning) to be lumped with Mr. Trump (who is neither).”

He also added that,

This is not the only letter. There have been several petitions doing the rounds. A petition by John D. Gartner, a practicing psychotherapist (a clinical psychologist) says that Trump has “malignant narcissism,” which is incurable.

There is a rule in the U.S.A, known as the ‘Goldwater rule’, which states that it is unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures they have not examined in person. But doctors are going ahead anyway because they think that Trump is a severe case!
