At 96, IAF Marshal Arjan Singh Paid Tribute To Dr. Kalam Despite Health Issues

Marshal of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Arjan Singh paid his last tributes to late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at Palam airport on Tuesday, July 28. Arjan Singh and Dr. Kalam had a good relationship, and that fact was evident when Mr. Singh personally went to pay homage, even when his body didn’t allow him to.

Arjan Singh is 96 years old and can walk with great difficulty. He uses wheel chair most of the time and has issues with travelling outside. But, his respect for Dr. Kalam stands way above his health issues.

Arjan Singh, the Marshal, is the only officer of Indian Air Force to be promoted to five star rank. Born on 15th April, 1919, he led no 1 Squadron, Indian Air Force into command during the Arakan Campaign in 1944 and also received Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) award in the same year. He also commanded the IAF Exhibition Flight in 1945.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s body was flown to Delhi from Guwahati on Tuesday and the funeral will be performed at his home town Rameswaram, in Tamil Nadu, on Thursday.
