This ‘Trash Dove’ Meme Has Taken Over The Internet, And Here’s What It ACTUALLY Means!

The internet is a massive playground of everything strange and wonderful. From people sprinkling salt in the most flamboyant manner to those trying their best never to make a point, anything can catch the fancy of the internet. Honestly, trying to decipher what our beloved netizens might be drawn to next is a near impossibility.

Most recently, this whimsical playground had a crazy new visitor. A strange purple bird who seems to be tripping on some funky shit.

Officially termed as the ‘Trash Dove’, this little bird was created by Florida-based artist Syd Weiler on 31st January 2016, as a part of a series of stickers.

However, this headbanging dove soon became an internet sensation after this video went viral in Thailand.

The video garnered over 3.5 million views in a day!

On the back of this popularity, the bird was hijacked by several users and was used to spam the comments section of several FB posts.

This shit went on for several hundred lines down each FB post since the past few days.

That’s what the ‘Google Trends’ graph for ‘Trash Dove’ looks like since the spamming started.

If you notice, ‘Trash Dove’ was almost non-existent until the 10th of February!

A Reddit thread discussing this viral bird theorised several possibilities for its virality. One of them, Haruhanahanako, claimed that the dove represented ‘friend-zoning’ in Thai culture.

Another, WariReku, simply suggested that the bird was so annoying that it proved the perfect symbol for internet spam.

5. This one’s tripping on another level.

Honestly, while sometimes internet memes have a deep and meaningful backstory behind them, other times, they shoot to popularity simply because they’re trippy AF.

Good bless the good people of the Internet!
