But for that matter, any elderly person who takes the charge of setting you right when you take the wrong path is Tau. One such Tau who is almost like a desi superhero to people of Gurgaon is Traffic Tau. Wondering what the deal is about? Read on.
What is a Traffic Tau?
It is the mascot of Gurgaon Traffic Police and an initiative started by JCP Bharti Arora in December 2013.
Who is Traffic Tau?
Virendra Bhalla, who is a fourty something assistant sub inspector is the Tau. His masscot attire consists of a red pagdi, white dhoti-kurta and a blue waistcoat. And to complement the entire look, he carries a heavy lathi. But don’t worry, he is not out there to trash people.
What does he do?
Just as his name says, he is this super awesome tau who goes around explaining people the value of following road safety rules and sets those right who violate rules by making them do sit-ups! Just as the taus would do in the families.
He is much more than just a traffic rule teacher
He explains all about traffic and road safety rules by giving explanations that only a paternal uncle (Tau) would give. He imparts lessons with a rustic grace of a Tau and tells how a single wrong move on road can cost you and your family heavily. But teaching about traffic is not his only forte. He also teaches you to maintian a healthy diet, respect women and improve as a person.
He is a friendly Tau
He bores a friendly attitude and his rustic charm is just too infectious. All in all, he is doing his bit in instilling faith in people about how Traffic Police Department can be caring and helpful on roads.
