We have lived thinking that the world has evolved from being extremely racist to being incredibly progressive and inclusive of all colours and cultures. After the US election results of 2016, we noticed how the number of racist attacks and incidents where civilians verbally abuse immigrants have drastically gone up. When the President of one of the most powerful countries in the world openly endorses racism and xenophobia, people get more confident and start being vocal about their inner demons.
One such shocking incident happened in Mississauga, Ontario, where a woman demanded a ‘White’ doctor to treat her child. When people around her stood up to tell her how incredibly rude and racist she is, she accused them of attacking her because she’s white and they are brown. Hitesh Bhardwaj, who was there at the clinic for his own appointment, recorded the whole incident. He said, “I couldn’t help but record the video. This is bad, this is inappropriate and shouldn’t go unnoticed.”
