12 Thriller Movies Releasing In 2018 That Should Definitely Make It To Your ‘Must Watch’ List

Thriller movies are just one of those things that I can’t help but get out of the house for. The ‘what will happen next’ feeling takes over my body and my heart rate increases with anticipation.

If you’re anything like me, you love following these complex plots. You also try to decipher any small detail that could be the turning point in the film. Or most of all, you live for those unpredictable endings, don’t you? Then, I’ve got the perfect list for you.

Here are the best upcoming thriller movies that will be hitting the theatres near you in 2018.

1. Red Sparrow

We love Jennifer Lawrence, don’t we? This time she plays a Russian ballerina who is now a spy seductress aka a lethal weapon. It is comming from the filmmaker,  Francis Lawrence (who also directed J.Law in the last three Hunger Games movies).

2. Raazi

It is an upcoming period thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Vineet Jain and Karan Johar. It stars the uber-talented Alia Bhatt and the brilliant Vicky Kaushal. With such a cast and crew, I’m sure the film is going to be power-packed. It is an adaption of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat.

3. Ocean’s 8

What can I even say about the star cast of this film that you don’t already know? The heist film has Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Midy Kailing, Rihanna and James Corden (to name a few). And when I saw the list of special appearances, I had a mini-stroke! It is a sequel and an all-female version of the Ocean’s Eleven franchise.

4. Baazaar

The film is to be largely centred around the stock market and is a crime thriller. The film is directed by Gauravv K. Chawla and stars Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh and will be debuting Rohan Mehra. Well, I certainly cannot wait after hearing these names!

5. Maze Runner: The Death Cure

Maze Runner fans in the house!? Gimme a hoot! This film is based on the novel of the same name by James Dashner. It’s the third and final installment of the Maze Runner movies following a dystopian society.

6. Widows

This film follows director Steve McQueen’s iconic 12 Years a Slave. I know, big hopes rest on his shoulders. It’s a crime thriller starring Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Debicki, and Michelle Rodriguez as four widows who decide to finish off the heist that killed their husbands.

7. My Birthday Song

Now if you want to watch this one you can just head to the cinema and watch it now, cause it’s already released! The psychological thriller stars Sanjay Suri and has been directed and produced by Samir Soni.

8. Lizzie

The film is based on a true story of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murders of both her father and stepmother in 1892. OMG! Can’t wait for this one, I love biographical thrillers!

9. Vodka Diaries

Kay Kay Menon is a cop out on a quest to solve a series of mysterious murders happening over a single night all somehow seem to be connected to a nightclub called Vodka Diaries. Sounds interesting, guess what you can book your tickets now and watch it. The movie has already released!

10. The Girl In The Spider’s Web

This movie is an American-Swedish crime thriller based on a novel of the same name by David Lagercrantz. The plot revolves around a computer hacker and journalist caught in the web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt officials. Intriguing right?

11. Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran

The movie features John Abraham and Diana Penty in lead roles. It is based on the nuclear bomb test explosions conducted by the Indian Army at Pokhran in 1998.

12. The Commuter

This action thriller is a story about a businessman caught up in a conspiracy during his daily schedule. The Commuter has already been released so you can watch the Liam Neeson film if you want.
