3. Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi

Formula Rossa is the world’s fastest roller coaster. It has a top speed of 240 km/hr and the initial acceleration happens in 5 seconds. This means that riders experience a speedforce more than the world’s fastest racecar. They have to wear safety goggles to avoid airborne particles puncturing their eyes. Savage, isn’t it?

5. SCAD tower at Tivoli Friheden in Denmark

Picture this. You are taken up by a scaffolding to a height of 100 feet over a chasm. Then, you are dropped. Face up. At a speed of 88 km/hr. Since you’re facing up, you don’t know that there will be a net catching you at the end of the drop. Near death experience YO!

One of the most lethal and fatal rides in the world, this alpine slide left riders battered and bruised because of the crude construction of its slide, coupled with swimwear wearing riders who rode down at insane speeds on a sled. The end was always some people flying off the edge into the embankment area.

7. Fahrenheit at Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania

This is the father of insane roller coasters. Ride up to 121 feet, then have a 97-degree negative drop, then get a 107-degree inverted loop, then a cobra roll, then a corkscrew roll, then an airborne hill-time (where your stomach appears to be floating), then an S-joint, and this is just half. The entire ride gets over in a minute and a half. Crazy would be an understatement.

8. Insanity atop the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas

Rightly named, this ride. You sit on a mechanical seat arm, which extends out of the top of the tower, above 900 feet. And then you’re spun at a speed of 3 G’s ( i.e. an acceleration of 0-100 km/hr in 1.42 seconds), at an angle of 70-degrees. If you live to tell the tale, you can accomplish pretty much any daredevil task.

9. Tower of Terror II at Dreamworld Gold Coast, Australia

The tallest ride in the southern hemisphere, Tower of Terror is aptly named because of its climb to a 100 feet tower. This is just the beginning. As soon as riders are on the top, they are hurtled backwards to a zero-gravity drop attaining a speed of 161 km/hr in seven seconds. The screams of riders are all you hear.

10. Superman – Ride of Steel at Six Flags in New England Agawam, Massachusetts

For this ride of steel, you need balls of steel. This is the best roller coaster in America, and has won the most awards and the best one at them. It’s defining feature is a 221-foot drop into a tunnel, and a hill section where your stomach feels weightless for 10 whole seconds. Patrons have been heard saying they feel jelly-legged after exiting the ride.
