Two Men In Assam Distribute 1000 Kg Of Fish For Free Among The Poor To Spread Joy During Bihu

It’s the end of the harvest season in north India! And with it comes the festivities and fervor. Many of the agrarian states have different ways to celebrate and spread the joy. From lohri and uttarayana to Pongal and Makar Sakranti- the names may be different but the emotion is the same!

In the same spirit, Magh Bihu marks the end of the harvest season in Assam. The festival is celebrated with feasts and bonfires. It’s also called Bhogali Bihu, which means Bihu of eating foods and merriment!

People even erect makeshift huts called Meji with bamboo, leaves, and thatch. They share a sumptuous dinner and then burn the huts in the morning. Sometimes, even traditional Assamese games are played including tekeli bhoga or pot breaking and buffalo fighting.

Many of us think of spreading love and joy to others as well. But how many of us actually make an effort to do it?

But that’s exactly what Somen Deka and Dharma Deka from Assam did. They went out of the way to let everyone enjoy the festival and take part in the merriment.

Wow. Isn’t that truly commendable? In a world running after money, the two have set an example of giving and sharing. And what’s better than fish? We know Assamese love their maas!

Nandan Sharma, a journalist shared the heartwarming incident on Twitter. And even said that most of the people getting fish were daily wage labourers.

While we are hearing more and more stories of hate and crime, this one just uplifts our soul. It’s true isn’t it, real happiness is in sharing and spreading love.

Happy Bhogali Bihu, you guys!
