According To Science, Getting Multiple Tattoos Helps Boost Your Immune System

“My tattoos are not lame and stupid things, but a story of my life.”

Many of us, including me, have yearned to get tattoos for eternity, but we are bogged down by other people’s judgemental opinions (relatives or the neighbour Sharma aunty) and negative stereotypes. Tattoos are frowned upon and are seen as something that ‘good people’ don’t get.

Are the same things stopping you too? If yes, then fret not, my dear friend.

Science says that getting multiple tattoos enhances our immune system. It also helps in warding off the common cold.

You heard me!

The American Journal of Human Biology professed that getting multiple tattoos can actually strengthen your immune system. The researchers from The University of Alabama discovered that the immune system of the tattooed participants was more than the ones who didn’t have a tattoo.

But there’s a small catch: Getting your first tattoo can lower your resistance and weaken your immunity system. However, after you’re done with your first tattoo, you get stronger.

Dr Christopher Lynn, the UA Associate Professor of Anthropology told,

Working out = Getting inked
Here’s what she said regarding multiple tattoos:

After the stress response, your body returns to an equilibrium. However, if you continue to stress your body over and over again, instead of returning to the same set point, it adjusts its internal set points and moves higher.

The research was carried out on a small group of people (24 women and 5 men). After collecting saliva samples of the people before and after getting inked. After collecting the samples, the levels of cortisol (a stress hormone that suppresses immune hormone) was analyzed.

Wow! I’m so going to the tattoo parlor near my office.

Sharma Auntyyyyyy, are you listening? 😛
