Remember the picture of a little Syrian bot, dressed in a red shirt and blue shorts, lying lifeless on the sea-shore that wrenched our hearts for a week or two? It was heart-breaking and did move us but then, too many events followed suit and we forgot about the hundreds of Syrian boys who meet the same end everyday! Life is fast on the virtual world and although such incidents strike us hard, it doesn’t take long to get distracted to the finer pleasures of life.
Therefore, in an attempt to speak in the language of the latest fad in the virtual world, Syrian children are holding up pictures of Pokemons, hoping to catch the attention of the world!

The photos were posted by the Revolutionary Forces of Syria Media Office. The pictures are nothing but a cry for help by the helpless children of a war-torn country holding pictures of Pokemon mascots like Pikachu and Squirtle with phrases like “Come save me”.
The idea was pioneered by Taim Shami, a member of the refugee advocacy organisation, FacesOfChange created images modeled on the smartphone game and called it the Syria Go.

The intention was a to send out a simple message – Syrians would rather have life-saving amenities, education and roof to live under rather than Pokemons.
Hope these kids can reach out to the world before it’s too late for them!
