While Indore Is The Cleanest Indian City, Here Are The Other Cities On The Top 10 List.

Swachh-Bharat

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the Swachh Bharat campaign, Indians were filled with a new zeal and were doing their best towards the Clean India initiative. Two years down, there is a change which is to be seen in the cities that are adopting the campaign.

Conducted by the Quality Council of India, the Swachh Survekshan-2017 results are out and here are the winners. While Indore, Madhya Pradesh is the cleanest Indian city; Gonda, Uttar Pradesh is the dirtiest.

Here are the zonal rankings as observed under the Government survey.

1. In the East, Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) is the cleanest and Bhubhaneshwar Town (Odisha) is the Fastest Moving City.

2. In West, Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) is the Fastest Moving City and Navi Mumbai (Maharashtra) is the cleanest city.

3. In the Southern zone, Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu) bagged the Cleanest City title, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) is the Fastest Moving City.

4. Coming to the North-East, Gangtok (Sikkim) is the Cleanest State Capital and Nagaon (Assam) is the Cleanest City in North-East Zone Outside State Capitals.

5. Up in the North zone, Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) is the Fastest Moving City and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) is the Cleanest City.

The cities were judged on the basis of data provided by Municipal bodies, and out of the 500 cities, 424 participated.

Talking about the bottom 10, there are as many as four cities from Uttar Pradesh on the list.

We think UP should be pulling up their socks this year onwards.

Now, that’s a change we all wanted to see and would want to see in the future. Right?
