Superstitious Landlord Makes Family Spend Whole Night With Their Dead Son Out In The Rain

Superstition has plagued our country for a considerable amount of time as we learned from the faith of people who are willing to kill fellow human beings for a phony saint. People have been blinded by superstition so much that they have forgotten their empathy.

In a contemptible incident, a landlord refused to allow the dead body of a teenage boy to be brought in the house on grounds of it being a bad omen.

The incident occurred in Venkateshwara Nagar Colony in Kukatpally, Hyderabad when the mother of the boy brought the dead body of her son home after the 13-year-old had died of dengue at the government-run Niloufer Hospital on Wednesday.

The landlord, Jagdish Gupta, however, refused to let the woman enter the house with the body of her child despite her hapless pleas that she had nowhere to take the body.

As reported by Hindustan Times, the landlord justified his stance on the grounds that he had conducted the marriage of his daughter three months ago and it would be inauspicious to allow a corpse into the house.

The mother, Eshwaramma and father, Venkateshwarlu had to spend the night outside the house in a thunderstorm with the corpse of their child, as the landlord refused to let the body be kept even in the compound of the house.

The neighbours of the couple were kind enough to provide them with a freezer to keep the body and also covered them with tarpaulin to save them from the pouring rain.

The couple was able to take the body to the cemetery to perform the funeral rites in the morning around 8 am. No police case has been registered against the landlord.

Such instances make us question whether people have sacrificed all their humanity to become slaves to superstition where not even a shred is left to spare for a mother grieving the untimely death of her child.
