Host Of 90s Show ‘India’s Most Wanted’ Killed His Wife 17 Years Ago, Finally Behind Bars!

We all have heard the saying, “What goes around, always comes around”. But we seldom believe in it, especially when we do wrong by the people in our lives. We never think we’ll get caught and believe we can get away with it. But when the sins reach their limit, there’s no going back. You have to pay for your crimes.

Justice has prevailed today, although quite late in this case. Suhaib Ilyasi was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife, Anju Ilyasi, 17 years after the crime was committed.

As per a report in DNA, the television show producer-host, who shot to fame with ‘India’s Most Wanted’, was convicted by a Delhi Court on Saturday.

The murder took place on 11 January 2000. Anju was rushed to the hospital with severe stab wounds. She succumbed to death owing to the critical condition.

The statements by Anju’s sisters, Rashmi and Reeta Singh, and their mother Rukma Singh alleged that Suhaib used to torture Anju for dowry. He was arrested on 28 March 2000, under the charge for dowry death (IPC Section 304 B). Later in March 2003, he was being charged under IPC sections 498A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty) and 304B (dowry death).

Three years ago, in 2014, the court finally announced that Suhaib Ilyasi will face murder charges for Anju Ilyasi’s death.

Finally, he was found guilty under IPC Section 302 (murder) on 16 December by  Additional Sessions Judge S K Malhotra. He would face either life imprisonment or the death penalty.

According to Advocate Manu Sharma, who represented Ilyasi, the verdict was to be announced on 20 December. And now we have justice, as Suhaib Ilyasi got a life imprisonment sentence.

Although our legal maxim says “Justice delayed is justice denied”, we can find solace in the fact that the crime did not go unpunished.
