Meet Sudhir Chaudhary, The Man Who Sacrificed Everything To Become Sachin’s Biggest Fan!

If you are a cricket fan and follow team India, you’d have noticed a man in the stands, cheering for Sachin Tendulkar and team India with the tricolour painted on his body. Be it any game, any place and anytime, he’d be there waving the national flag and blowing a conch shell. He is a man who has dedicated his life to supporting the man he considers his idol.

Meet Sudhir Kumar Chaudhary aka Gautam, unarguably, the biggest fan of Sachin Tendulkar.

Recalling the first time he met with his idol like it was just yesterday, Sudhir revealed that he missed his graduation exams and cycled all the way to meet Sachin.

“It was at the Trident Hotel on October 29, 2003 that I fell to his feet and Sachin sir invited me home for lunch. There we spoke and he invited me to a match which I happily accepted.”

When asked how he manages to travel all over the world to cheer for India, Sudhir said,

“I don’t earn enough. Whatever I do make is spent on travel in trains. I have plenty of friends across who I stay with on the travels. While in Pakistan, I stayed with ‘chacha’. So stay is not a problem and Sachin sir helps with the ticket for entry.”

Now that Sachin has retired and Team India is under the new guard, Sudhir has tweaked his message a little but cheers with the same enthusiasm for Team India.

“Even if Sachin sir is not on the ground, I still support the team and do the same things. Earlier my message was ‘Sachin 10’, now it is ‘Miss U Tendulkar 10’.”

With talents like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma taking Indian cricket to a glorious future, people draw comparisons with the legend. However, for Sudhir, no one can reach the heights of Sachin.

“Many players have come and gone since Sachin and no one can do what he did for 24 years.”

Sudhir’s love and passion for the game can be summed up by this one quote by him.

“Jis din nahi dikhu, toh samajh jaiyega mera wicket gir gaya.”

Translation: If one day you don’t see me in the crowd, understand that I’m no more.

Because in India, cricket is not just a game and Sachin is not just a player.
