23 YO Delhi Guy Dies After His Girlfriend’s Family Slit His Throat In Broad Daylight

India as a country has been plagued by caste and class differences since time immemorial. People have committed grave crimes in an attempt to protect the sanctity of their caste and religion. Recently, another man fell a victim to this frivolous attempt when he was stabbed to death in public in front of the eyes of his parents.

23-year-old Ankit Saxena was stabbed on Thursday evening in west Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar, allegedly by the family members of the girl he was in love with. He was kicked and punched repeatedly on the street. The girl’s father and uncle stabbed him with a chopper and slit his throat with a knife while two other people held his arms.

Ankit’s mother who saw the whole thing tried to rescue her son but was attacked by the girl’s mother.

As reported by Hindustan Times, the police believe that the murder was an honour killing as the girl Shehzadi belongs to a Muslim family. She had walked out of her house declaring to her parents that she would marry Saxena, who was Hindu. Her parents feared that she would elope with him and were hounding him since.

However, Kamlesh, Ankit’s mother disagrees with the police and has accused the girl’s parents of being generally suspicious of all the young men in the neighbourhood. She also accused them thrashing another man at his home because they believed he was eyeing their daughter.

The devastated mother recalled the suffering her son went through as people looked on. She said,

“There were dozens of people watching my son get beaten up, but none of them dared to save him. My son was a bodybuilder himself, but he was helpless when the killers caught and killed him. The sight of the woman’s father wielding a big kukri knife must have scared others.”

She and her husband kept begging people to arrange a vehicle to rush their son to a hospital, but to no avail. She also said that E-rickshaw and auto drivers would stop, take a look and leave without offering any help whatsoever.

The father of the victim spoke to Times of India and revealed shocking details about the incident. He said,

“He called for help while they were stabbing him and then fell unconscious. His mother tied her chunni on his throat to stop the blood flow and kept calling for help. But passersby, who had stopped to click photographs, did not help her. No one even called the police control room”

After about 20 minutes of screaming for help, an e-rickshaw driver finally stopped and agreed to help. However, the boy who was bleeding profusely from his neck and mouth died on his mother’s lap. He was declared dead when they arrived at DDU hospital.

The mother of the boy who has a broken rib from the attack added that the girl’s mother pushed her on the footpath and kicked her on the chest. The family also accused the victim of abducting their daughter and turned a deaf ear to his mother’s pleas.

The girl who was allegedly in love with him has given a statement to the police. She disclosed that she was not aware of the incident until later and added,

“I was waiting for him at the Tagore Garden Metro station. He was on his way home to get his motorbike when someone informed me that he had been stabbed. My father and uncle have done all this.”

Locals have denied having any knowledge of the affair between the victim and the girl. As per recent developments, police have arrested the father, uncle and also minor brother for the crime.

Had the people shown a little sympathy for the boy, maybe a young life would not have left the world so soon. The apathy of people at such a time is shocking and makes us scared of the future.
