A Former Gangster’s Son Sues SRK For Defaming His Dad In ‘Raees’ And Demands Rs 101 Crores

Looks like SRK’s Raees is in trouble even before the release of the film.

An Ahmedabad court issued notice to the Bollywood superstar’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment Private Limited in response to a suit filed by the son of a Gujarati gangster who claims that the movie is an attempt at defaming his father.

However, the petitioner claims that when the script was in the research stage, his family members were consulted and the producers had also been upfront that the film was based on Latif’s life.

Civil court judge RT Vatsani issued notices to Red Chillies and co-producers Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia Productions. According to the suit filed, the second part of the film shows Latif in a very defamatory manner and damages the family’s reputation. An amount as good as Rs 101 crore has been demanded by the gangster’s son.

The film is based on the life of gangster Abdul Latif. Mustaq Ahmad, Latif’s son, also sought injunction against the release of the film as well as its promotional material.

Hope everything gets resolved soonest as we can’t wait to watch Raees on the big screen. 🙂
