Amaal Mallik Denies Collaboration Talk With Sonakshi, Agrees Actors Shouldn’t Sing On Stage.

Sonakshi-Amaal-Mallik

The news of Sonakshi Sinha being a part of Justin Bieber’s India concert broke the internet, but not in a good way. Yesterday, we told you how Kailash Kher maintained that Sona’s singing act is not a healthy sign for Indian singing artistes and also how Sonakshi got in a war of words sorts with singer Armaan Malik. Well, in rather new development, we learnt from Noor‘s social media handles, that she’s not performing at all at the Bieber concert. Huh?!

Sonakshi took to Twitter to clear the air on the whole matter, which was meted with a lot of criticism.

Even in yesterday’s Tweet thread of Sonakshi-Armaan Malik, the other Mallik brother got involved. Amaal had asked Sonakshi if she was mistaking Armaan for him. But that confusion got cleared yesterday itself.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Amaal took a stand on the whole actors-singing-at-international concert issue and said,

“I feel when an international singing icon tours our country, it is important to put forward our own icons, like Arijit Singh, KK, Sonu Nigam, Armaan. India has some incredible talent that should represent us at such big international gigs.”

He further said about actors singing for films is okay, but on stage….not really.

“Parineeti (Chopra), Alia (Bhatt) and Shraddha (Kapoor) have done a good job with playback singing recently. I got Salman (Khan) sir to sing ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ for me. This is okay for films but for music concerts as big as Justin Bieber’s, I stand with Kailash Kher. Pure musical artistes should get the opportunity to perform instead of actors who are not conventional musicians.”

About Sonakshi’s tweet stating Maliks approaching her for a collaboration, Amaal revealed that they were open to the idea but it was the brainchild of Sonakshi’s team, not theirs.

“But Armaan and I never went to her for a collaboration. The idea was the brainchild of the team of her recently released film and Sonakshi was keen on doing a track. Keeping in mind the genre, situation, and the required singing style, the track seemed tough to pull off. I needed true-blooded singers to deliver those melodies and do 100 per cent justice to them.”

Aaah! So, is it just me or the whole matter is getting more twisted?
