There was one Shashi from English Vinglish who didn’t know the language and made an entire movie worth of efforts to learn to speak it well. And then there is this Shashi. The man, the dictionary, the legend—Mr. Shashi Tharoor—who knows the language so well that you’d think he freaking invented it!
Basically, Sashi Tharoor is that English professor who insists you carry a dictionary to his class, because he won’t bring down his level of proficiency just to make your lives easier! An exasperating farrago of distortions, if you will!
And now, ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your dictionaries and thesaurus, for Prof. Sashi Tharoor is back with another language lesson, this time too via Twitter!
So apparently, it looks like people have been mocking Tharoor’s writing style and he wanted to clarify why he uses the words he does—because precision. However, to communicate this point ‘with precision’, Tharoor ended up composing this gem of a tweet!
To all the well-meaning folks who send me parodies of my supposed speaking/writing style: The purpose of speaking or writing is to communicate w/ precision. I choose my words because they are the best ones for the idea i want to convey, not the most obscure or rodomontade ones!

Attention class, your new word of the day is ‘rodomontade’ courtesy Prof. Tharoor. Raise your hands if you know the meaning. If not, raise your English language proficiency by reading the damn dictionary!
Christmas came early for the Twitterati, who pounced on this chance to yet again mock Tharoor for his usage of a word not so commonly used by us, the common folk.
1. We thought we’d start with giving you the meaning of the word rodomontade. FYI, it means boastful or inflated talk/behaviour. You’re welcome!
For the uninitiated (like me) who may not have the time to look it up, here's what the word rodomontade means: pic.twitter.com/It5z3WgQnR

4. Samjhe?
"Communicate" with precision.. The problem is, those words may be precise (though rodomontade) but hardly communicate, as an average person wouldn't bother googling their meaning

The highlight of this entire situation was when former Jammu & Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah endorsed Shashi Tharoor as a teacher of all things English!
Learning English? Follow my friend @ShashiTharoor for words you never knew existed & will struggle to ever use in a sentence but by golly they sound impressive. #rodomontade 😀
— Omar Abdullah (@OmarAbdullah) December 14, 2017
By golly, you’e right Mr. Abdullah!
So anyway, our heatfelt gratitude to Shashi Tharoor for all these moments of learning that he bestows upon us, the layman. As a wise Amitabh Bachchan in Namak Halal said, “Engliss is a very phunny language.”
And you, Mr. Tharoor, make it even more entertaining!
