So This Is What Happens When You Stand Up Against Rape? How Low Can We Really Get?

Boys will be boys, but when will they grow up to be men?

Here’s what happened:

Social activist Sunitha Krishnan, was recently forwarded 2 videos on Whatsapp where 5 men are shown gang raping one woman in one of the videos which is 8 minutes long and another video of a girl being raped by one person which she uploaded online to shame the rapists and also to find them out so they can be punished. The said videos have been removed from YouTube for violation of terms of service.

Sunitha Krishnan, who has had her own shares of struggles when she was raped at the age of 15, lashed out with these tweets:

Not hours after she posted these videos online, her car was vandalized in Hyderabad, and stones were pelted at the rear window of her car.

But Sunitha Krishnan remained undaunted by this experience and has vowed to shame the people who did this and make sure that they receive appropriate punishment by tweeting this.

Here’s what we think:

The people of this country have once again proved that freedom of expression and speech is just a myth. Expressing your thoughts and bringing out the truth in the open is punishable but rape and rapists are not. This incident has taken humanity to a new low.

Well as they say Ms Krishnan, if you’re annoying somebody then you’re definitely doing something right. We have nothing but respect for your fearless ways.
