Serena Williams Poses Nude For Vanity Fair Cover And Maternity Is Glowing On Her!

Serena Williams is the best athlete that Tennis has seen in a long time. There I said it. Actually, it isn’t me, just glance at her record-breaking career (read: 23 grand-slam wins) and you’ll know what I mean. But apart from business, I also mean and intend to tell you all about the empowering icon she is. Shall we?

To start with, let’s just take a moment to recall and acknowledge that Serena played and won the Australian Open grand slam, pretty much blurring the lines between what’s possible and what’s not. Oh, while at it, she also manages time to kick sexist and racist standards in the balls (ask McEnroe about it).

But like that wasn’t enough, Serena has now graced the cover of Vanity Fair- August issue, naked, looking like a ‘GODDESS’. Beware, for the glow might bedazzle you!

Oh, wait there is another one!

In fact, the cover story by Vanity Fair goes to reveal how it all unfurled.

Serena, during the Australian Open, in Melbourne, felt a little different physically, including morning sickness and enlarging of the breasts, but it the thought of pregnancy never crossed her mind. It was her friend Jessica Steindorff who brought her the pregnancy kit and Voila. Her expression?

“Oh my God, this can’t be—I’ve got to play a tournament. How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year.”

Needless to say, Twitter is in awe!

1. DITTO.

2. *Claps hard*

3. Hands down!

4. Damn right she is!

5. ALWAYS…

6. Flawless at that!

7. Mutual feeling Sistah!

8. My question exactly!

9. PC would agree!

10. Noted.

And these are just a handful out of the sea of applause, I can see and hear! It goes without a mention that is more than just a cover. It, in fact, is a beacon of light to encourage and empower moms-to-be, especially of colour, to be comfortable in their own skin. Thank you for this Serena…thank you for inspiring women to just be. All our wishes and love.
