Serena Williams SLAMS McEnroe Who Said She’d Be ‘World No. 700’ If She Played Against Men

Serena Williams is a name that needs no introduction. From empowering women, to being the World No.1 at what she does, Serena honestly sounds like a superwoman.

Be it winning the Grand Slam when she was pregnant or when she played a game a with a few fans she spotted on her late night walk – there is nothing that she can’t do! Time and again, I am left wondering how is it humanly possible for someone to be so darn perfect but there she is again, slaying her way through sexist remarks by a veteran player.

John McEnroe, former Tennis world number one said in a radio show that Serena William is sincerely the ‘best women’s tennis player’ in history. But if she were to play at the men’s tennis tour, she’d crumble. He said –

“But if she had to just play the circuit — the men’s circuit — that would be an entirely different story. She’d be like 700 in the world”.

35-year-old and 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, Serena Williams who is taking a break from Tennis because she is pregnant, took the time to reply. And she SHUT him down like it should be done.

Everyone has the right to their own point of view. But people take it a notch up and misuse their freedom of speech to shame people or pass sexist remarks along. If a woman can not be respected in her own field of work by a fellow, respectable competitor – how do you think she is supposed to move forward?

Your condescending words can not stop Serena Williams to conquer the world. Your condescending tone can not stop any women from being the best at what she does. You hear me?
