Why Use 10 Different Terms When You Can Just Say ‘Period’. It’s Time To Stop Shying Away.

[cjtoolbox name=’Sofy 4th Tag’ ] [/cjtoolbox] What do you say when you get your period? You have your chums, you have a ‘stomach-ache’, you are chumming and the most popular, ‘you are down’. Everything but ‘Period’. We have made an entire encrypted language just for expressing that we have our periods. No one would utter that world as if it is a punishable offence.

Why do we shy away from saying the word ‘period’? Is it because we have associated a sense of embarrassment with that process? We have to realise that it is nothing to be apologetic about. It is a part of who we are, a part which makes us a woman and gives us a reason to be proud of it, not ashamed.

Radhika Vaz, in Sofy Conversations, talks about how it’s time we drop those inhibitions about menstruation and be proud of who we are.
