It Snowed In Sahara Desert After 37 Years And It Was A Snowy Sight To Behold!

When one thinks of deserts, the only things that come to mind are sand dunes spread across a very large area, little to no vegetation and animals like camel wandering slowly in the sand. It is even difficult to find water in such regions.

However, the Sahara desert, the largest hot desert in the world located in northern Africa experienced something completely different this time. Believe it or not, but it just snowed in the Sahara! A photographer, Karim Bouchetata captured the magical moment.

However, it is not the first time that it snowed in the Sahara. It also snowed for about 30 minutes on February 18, 1979.

The desert did experience some small dustings of snow in 2005 and 2012, but it was only in ’79 and this year that actual snowfall took place.

The snowfall took place near the Algerian town of ‘Ain Sefra’ which is also known as ‘Gateway to the Sahara’.
