Indian currency got ‘modi’fied on Tuesday night and people just lost their cool, on social media and off it, too. There’s a surge in reactions from the masses and this piece of news is playing a prime role in causing mini, or in some cases major, panic attacks.
You still have time to exchange your old Rs 500 and 1000 notes at banks, post-offices, petrol pumps and other government offices. But, just in case you can’t, here are 13 ways in which you can still use them.
1. Make a phone cover out of it.
The prints on the cover would sure look cool. Haina?
2. Use them as a gift – wraps.
Wouldn’t that make a lovely gift-wrapping paper with Gandhi ji’s smiling face in all places? And it would leave a lasting impression, too.
3. Laminate it and use it as coasters
You may also cut them into halves and laminate them or use them as offset printed coasters.
4. Play monopoly with them
The feeling of playing Monopoly with real then-unreal now currency notes is gonna be a great one. Don’t you think?
5. Use it for Origami.

Bring out your artistic side. Create your own masterpieces.
6. Toilet paper roll or tissue paper. And rolling for…umm…stuff?!
*Hums* They see me rollin’…
7. Stich them together and use it as a window blind/ screen.
Add that vintage feel to your room, flaunt a currency curtain.
8. Use them as shagun envelopes at shaadis or functions and give the current currency in them.
It’s been high time we have been putting money inside envelopes, let’s put them outside.
9. Make a hand-fan out of it.
Use it during those chubhti jalti garmi days to fan yourself with.
10. Use it for bonfire.
The bonfire season is coming! So, now, when you run out of firewood you can throw ’em unused notes in and feel the warmth.
11. Frame them as relics. Or best preserve them.
After all, it’s value would only increase with time.
12. Make a mattress/ bed out of it.
You can try that, too. Not sure how comfortable it would be, but certainly worth a shot.
RIP, Rs 500 and Rs 1000!
