Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s latest instalment, Jagga Jasoos, has been controversy’s favourite child. Govinda lashed out on Twitter after his role was chopped completely from the film. The film was slated to release in 2015 but was delayed by 2 years. Eventually, the film did release but it bombed at the box office.
An angry Rishi Kapoor in an exclusive interview to Mid-Day lashed out at Anurag Basu and held him responsible for the film’s debacle.
Rishi clarified the rumours that he and his wife, Neetu, were unhappy with Ranbir for not only acting but producing the film. He also said that Anurag was still mixing the audio of the film just 3 days prior to the film’s release!
Ranbir Kapoor who is the producer of the film, Rishi claims, didn’t even see the final product before the release. Not only that, he was even upset with Anurag for chopping off Govinda’s role.
 “Who the hell are you [Basu] to do all this? It is ridiculous that a producer hadn’t seen his product a day ahead of the film’s release.You even threw Govinda out of the film. If you don’t want Govinda to work in your film, why did you ask him in the first place? Iss sab mein Ranbir ka naam toh kharaab hoga, aur kya? Mera kharaab hoga! (With these developments, it’s Ranbir and my name that’s gathered negative limelight).”
A disheartened Rishi Kapoor said Ranbir poured his heart and soul into the project but the director did not hold his end of the bargain.
“I got to know that Ranbir was pouring in money like crazy in this. I don’t interfere in Ranbir’s career and I do not get to know anything either. I would like to add here that I am grateful to Anurag for giving Ranbir a lovely film like Barfi! But why hide a film? ”
Shots have been fired, the blame game has begun, and there is no respite for what we can now call as a doomed film. Rishi Kapoor is angry, to say the least. Will Anurag respond to these allegations? Only time will tell!
