Renuka Shahane’s Stand On The ‘Padmaavat’ Ban Is Exactly What Needs To Be Discussed

Padmaavat has gone from being just a movie to a full-fledged controversy over the past few months. Since the film was being shot, the film involved vandalism, burning effigies and bounties on the cast’s heads. Even a dead body was found with a message of ‘Padmavati Ka Virodh‘ was found in Nahargarh Fort, for God’s sake!

However, after all that controversy the movie is finally hitting the theatres. The Supreme Court of India has given the film a go-ahead for a nationwide release after the CBFC granted it a U/A certification.

However, even after getting a name revamp and several cuts the Karni Sena is still ardently opposing the film’s release.

Riled up in controversy, many from the film fraternity have supported the Deepika Padukone starter.

Now, Renuka Shahane has also shared her opinion on the movie and the controversy surrounding it. She took to Facebook and shared a picture with a red cross on people calling for a ban on Padmaavat.

The Hum Aapke Hai Kaun actor has been known to speak her mind on social media. She has spoken out about the infamous Ryan murder case and has even shut down trolls who tried to shame her multiple times.

Shahane posted three pictures of herself calling for a ban on rape, female foeticide and sexual molestation.

Her post indicated to how it isn’t creativity and films that need to be banned, it is a fiction after all. There are much bigger issues that the country needs to address.

Our women are not safe in the country. We are constantly hearing brutal stories of rapes, assault, genital mutilation, acid attacks, female foeticide, female infanticide and so many more gut-wrenching things happening to the girls here. Yet, we are steering away from these pertinent issues and creating a ruckus over a film. Really?!

The valour of Rajput culture doesn’t need any protection, but the real women in our country do.
