Rishi Kapoor Chewed Ranbir’s Ear Off For Not Texting Him ‘Jai Mata Di’. WHAT?

Rishi Kapoor’s recently released autobiography which has aptly been titled, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored. The book contains some startling revelations from the actor’s personal and professional life including a confession about actually purchasing his first best actor award for Bobby.

Neetu Kapoor penned down an afterword for the autobiography in which she talked about a ‘non-negotiable’ rule that Rishi Kapoor followed – always text ‘Jai Mata Di’ prior to taking off or landing anywhere.

“Once Ranbir messaged him after boarding a flight but there was a delay in the actual take-off. Meanwhile, Bob (Rishi) had mentally calculated the time of arrival based on when the message had been sent, and when he didn’t hear from Ranbir at the estimated time, he went berserk. Eventually, when Ranbir did land, he got his ear chewed off. His father’s point was, ‘Why did you message me when it wasn’t yet time for take-off? I timed your landing in my head and I was worried sick.'”

Moreover, it turns out Ranbir clearly remembered the incident and even reminded his father about it during the promotion of ‘Besharam’.

“When all three of us flew together, Ranbir said much to my amusement, ‘Thank God both you are there. Now I don’t have to message and say ‘Jai Mata Di.’ It’s such pressure on me that if I slip up, Papa will go mad.'”

Maybe this is taking superstition a little too far but I do appreciate Rishi Kapoor’s concern for the safety of his family.
