Railway Ministry Gives Immediate Help To A Sick Father When Son Tweeted For A Wheelchair

Only a few days back, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and the Railway Ministry helped out a female passenger, when she tweeted to them about a man harassing her in her compartment.

And yet again, the Railway Minister has proved that he is taking digital India and servicing the passengers very seriously by answering yet another call from a passenger in need.

Pankaj Jain, a JDS Karnataka State Youth wing VP and entrepreneur, was travelling from Yesvantpur-Bikaner when he tweeted this to the Railway Ministry’s twitter account:

Pankaj had taken his sick father to Butati Dham for treatment which is 35 kilometers from Merta Road, the stop where he and his father had to alight.

Pankaj told HT that he was at a loss initially and wasn’t able to think what to do as the train, stops only for 3-5 minutes

“I called my friend, who is a doctor in Bengaluru, who suggested that I ask for help via twitter. I tweeted to the rail ministry on November 28 at around 6-7pm, asking for the train to be stopped for 10 minutes, for a wheelchair and for assistance in getting my father down at Merta Road”.

His query was regarding his ailing father, who couldn’t get off from the train in the allotted 3 minutes stoppage time and would also require a wheelchair

The Railway Ministry was quick to reply to his tweet and asked for the train’s PNR number so that arrangements could be made accordingly

The next morning, not only did the train stop for 10 minutes while Pankaj’s father could get off easily, the railway staff even waited for him in the cold weather with a wheelchair

A happy Pankaj not only thanked the Railway Ministry profusely, he also posted a picture of his father and himself

He also told HT that he was actually quite surprised at the immediate and complete help from the Ministry

“I am really surprised by the excellent support extended to me and my family and all of us extend our sincere thanks to North Western Railway chief public relation officer Tarun Jain, Merta Road station superintendent Amar Singh, the coolies and the station staff.”

Amazing work, Suresh Prabhu. 🙂
