Blankets Given In Trains Are Washed Once Every 2 Months. Go Ahead And Feel Disgusted!

When I travel by trains, I often have to put up with the stinking smell of blankets. And sometimes, the smell is too bad to endure. Happened with you too?

Turns out, the blankets are washed once in two months. The Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha revealed this hygiene fact during Question Hour (the first hour of a sitting session in the Lok Sabha where Members of Parliament raise questions about any aspect of administrative activity) on Friday.

It was also revealed that the bedsheets and pillow covers are washed everyday.

This came to light when some Members of Parliament enquired about the hygiene of linen and laundry in the Railways.

Rajya Sabha Chairman, Hamid Ansari, also pointed out that people could get back to the old practice where they got their own pillows and bedsheets.

Manoj Sinha agreed to this move, stating this was a ‘good advice’.

As of now, the Railways have 41 mechanized laundries.

This will be increased by 25 in the next two years.

Feeling disgusted? Yeah, me too.

Thank you, Mr Manoj Sinha, for letting us know this.
