Hindi Song Fans Are Mad At Rahman For Singing In Tamil And The Internet Is Not Pleased

A. R. Rahman, if you didn’t already know, is a living legend. Be it his soul-touching tunes or his humble persona, Rahman is most probably God’s voice trying to talk to us, through music. Did I say music? Magic, I meant!

Magic that exudes melody with every beat and harmony that echoes in your hearts/mind/ears for a long (really long) time.

It’s true that I do not need a reason to praise the Lord for sending him Rahman to our midst but today is a special occasion. You’re only a few stances away from knowing why…

It so happens that A. R. Rahman is currently on a world tour and just wrapped up a concert in Wembley, U.K.

While that should ideally be the news (and that he is phenomenal at what he does), #wembley and #ssearena were trending on Twitter because a bunch fans allegedly walked out of his concert disappointed. Why? Because he sang Tamil songs!

Yes, reportedly, Rahman, in his show titled, ‘Netru, Indru, Naalai’ (‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ for Tamil) sang many Tamil songs!

And you can imagine the fury. Actually, don’t I have reactions.

1. What did I tell ya?

2. Ummmmm

3. There were many who demanded refund also!

4. And more wrath followed…

5. What do you say to that?

Needless to say, South Indians did not waste time in taking the opportunity in stating the obvious!

1. DUH

2. Saw this coming, TBH!

3. This too!

5. The Game of Names!

6. You can it tears!

Before you hound at me; No, I am not a South-Indian. And sorry to break it to you guys (the folks who ‘walked out’) but A. R. Rahman is from TAMIL NADU. He is called the ‘Mozart of Madras’ (Not Mumbai) and I don’t understand how is it so difficult to understand!

Music has no language. In fact, it is THE universal language. What explains 2.5 billion views on Despacito? The language or the love of music? No points for guessing it’s the latter.

*goes back to listening ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’*
