10 Beautiful Things Phoebe Buffay From F.R.I.E.N.D.S Taught Me About Life

Friends is one of those TV shows that are a league apart. Their fans are like loyal soldiers, they would die kill before hearing a word against their favorite TV show. It’s not just a SITCOM for them, it is a way of life.

The actors gave life to the characters and lost themselves in it. And one of the actors whose work was appreciated the most was Lisa Kudrow. Lisa played the character of Phoebe Buffay and she did it in a way that none of us can imagine a better fit for the job than her. The conviction with which she portrayed the weird, funny and caring character, made many of us fall in love with Phoebe.

Over the years of religiously watching Friends, there are a lot of things that I have learned from Phoebe Buffay.

1. Follow your passion, no matter what the world says

She is not the best singer out there. But does she care? She loves singing, dancing, acting and she does it without holding herself back.

 

2. Always be there for your friends, no matter what

Remember when she had her brother’s children? Now that’s not an easy thing to do. There are many stories of how Phoebe went out of her way to help her friends. She will be brutal, she will be honest and she will take care of you when you need it. Well almost!

 

3. Don’t care about what the world thinks. If it makes you happy and doesn’t harm others, go ahead and do it

Be it her dressing, her running, her singing or offbeat habits, she embraces it all. She doesn’t try to change herself to be somebody else’s idea of being perfect.

 

4. Caring about things that others don’t really care about

She is against killing of animals for food, cutting of trees for decoration and skinning of animals for fur. She knows she will have to debate her way through, but she is never afraid of that.

 

5. Being brutally honest when the need comes

She will voice her opinion. Be it about Monica’s habits, Ross’ paranoia or Chandler’s jokes, she will do the needful when the time comes.

 

6. Giving priority to other people’s needs

She wishes for world peace, end of poverty and bigger boobs. (Me too darling, me too)

 

7. Being unbelievably practical

She is a tough one and has survived a lot of difficult situations. And how does she do that? By being a street smart & practical person.

 

8. Preserving some mystery around yourself

She knows weird things and has dark secrets that will come out just any day at random, and you will wonder, “How come I didn’t know that!”

 

9. Being normal is being boring

When did she ever do anything mainstream? From her job to her choices, she believes in thinking out of the box.

 

10. Confidence is the ultimate sexy

Phoebe’s swag is a level apart. She knows how to win hearts and she doesn’t shy away from doing it.
