This Hospital In Ranchi Served Food To A Patient On The Floor Claiming They Had No Plates!

Government hospitals in the country are not known for the best of facilities with regards to patient care. However, we do expect to find certain basic courtesies to be adhered to, when taking care of patients admitted there.

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Jharkhand, pegged as being the best hospital in the city, was found serving food to a patient on the hospital floor!

When the patient, identified as Palmati Devi, asked for food, the kitchen staff served it to her on the floor claiming that they did not have any plates. After that, the staff even made the patient, who had a fractured hand, clean the floor she was served on.

When this incident was brought to the attention of RIMS Director, BL Sherwal, he was shocked and immediately ordered an inquiry into the matter.

“It’s not a common practice but we have started an inquiry and will take action those who served the food on the floor and then forced her to eat from there.”

The culprit who served the patient food on the floor was later sacked, and the hospital commissioned disposable plates.

Such treatment crosses the line even in terms of basic human decency and should not be tolerated.
