The internet can be a mean force to reckon with. Be it the cyber-bullying by hate-mongers or unwarranted bashing by the bigot brigade, this of vicious vile of hatred, on social-networking sites, is probably the biggest peril of modern day technology.

While I can recall innumerable instances that goes to prove the above-mentioned statement, I’m compelled to talk about the latest and most crass one that involves a 20-something girl. A girl who happens to be a world icon, and a girl who took a bullet in the head to fight extremists and for education of little girls.

Yes, I’m talking about Malala Yousafzai who recently joined Oxford to pursue her higher studies. But while at it, she committed a ‘grave error’. What you ask? She wore jeans one odd day!

Not a mistake you say? How else do you explain these?

1. I can’t even…

2. Wait. WHAT?

3. The popular opinion of the day.

But thankfully, a better sense is prevailing. People have now come out in open and supported her against this slut-shaming.

1. WORD

2. Couldn’t agree more!

3. In another bid…

But I’d be lying if I said it’s only women who have come in the nick of the time to save their own (not that she needs any).

In fact, a Pakistani man, Junaid Akram who is also a stand-up comic posted a video defending Malala and it is going places on the inter-web. Watch it here.

“Elon Musk naya rocket bana raha hai, hum abhi tak baith ke decide kar rahe hain aurat ne kya pehenna hai. Hum hote kaun hai yaar?

Oxford main padh rahi hai, woh kya gota kinare wale sharare pehnegi?”

If this doesn’t make you go ‘YASSSSSS’, I don’t know what will. Also, Malala you inspire us, just the way you are. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
