For a long time, most of the tabloid headlines started with keywords (that’s what they are called in the business) like, ‘censored’, ‘cut’ and ‘chopped’. Why? Because CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani had taken the pledge to make ‘India clean’. As our Government was already working hard to do that job, I’m still not sure how cutting/chopping of films was helping him achieve that.
Fondly known as Sanskaari Nihalani, Pahlaj became the prime subject of many memes, mostly because he wouldn’t let good films go without being a prick in their path.
But now that he is sacked as the chief of CBFC, he is back in the business of a distributor. Nihalani is distributing ‘Julie 2’, which he claims is a ‘family’ film. But as far as my eyes and ears are equipped, the movie is far from being a film where a fam can jam together!
And so the Internet is calling him out. As un-sanskaari as the trailer looks, it’s unbelievable that he let all amazing films like ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘Lipstick Under My Burka’ not pass and is going ahead and advertising this.

‘Julie 2’ is the sequel to the ‘Julie’ movie of 2004, starring Neha Dhupia. Nihalani is producing an erotic thriller and the Internet is not here for it.
